Madmaheswar Temple:

The main attraction of the place is an elevation of 3265 meters. Chronologically, this is the 4th temple in the Panch Kedar route. It is said, that the navel part of the bull emerged here.

Budha Madmaheswar:

Within the distance of merely 2 km, the Budha Madmahswar temple is situated. Apart from the Hindu pilgrim, nature enthusiasts and photographers often pay a visit to this place, as some insane views of the Garhwal Himalayas can be seen here.

Kanchani Tal:

A glacial lake that is roughly a 15 km trek from Madmaheswar is a place where nature and spirituality lovers often resort to a piece of tranquility. The place is pristine by all means and is a treat to eyes.

Nandi Kund Lake:

At an elevation of 4000 meters, this lake is spread across more than 1.5 km. The place is quickly becoming a popular destination for adventure enthusiasts.

Ukimath:

This is one of the most underrated places that the pilgrims often tend to miss. As the temples of Kedarnath and Madmaheshwar are closed during winters, the idols are shifted to Ukimath and the winter worships are done here.

3 Things to do in Madmaheshwar:

1. Go Trekking

Reaching Madmaheshwar itself is a 15 km trek. There are other lovely trek routes, ranging from beginner to moderate level of difficulty. Popular trekking destinations are the Kanchana Tal and the Nandi Kund Lake.

2. Go Camping

The lakeside of the Kanchani Tal is a great place for camping. Indulge in the bliss of solitude and purity here.

3. Take a dip in the spine chilling lakes

Taking a dip in the glacier nourished lake water can be a thrilling experience. Kanchani Tai is the perfect place for this. Watch out for the winter season though, you don’t want to get frozen.

How to reach?

Madmaheswar is a 15 km trek from the village of Ransi. The trek to Bantoli is apparently easy which becomes steeper afterward.  There is no direct route to Ransi. However, different transport modes are available to and forth Ukimath which is 9.2 km away from Ransi.

By Air:

Jolly Grant is the closest airport. The distance from Jolly Grant Airport to Ukimath is 230 km. From Ukimath, separate cabs are available for the Ransi village. From the village, the final trek for Madmaheswar awaits.

By Rail:

The nearest railway station is Haridwar, situated at a distance of 200 km. From Haridwar, direct bus or private cars are available towards Ukimath. After that Private cars can be taken again from Ukimath to Ransi, and then the trek.

By Road:

There are direct busses to Ukhimath from the major cities in Uttarakhand. Private taxis are also available. The connecting roads are well maintained and are motor able.

From Ukimath further taxis can be hired that goes up to Ransi. Direct private cars from Dehrdaun, Rishikesh or Haridwar to Ransi are also available but will cost more.
